Trowbridge Future celebrates receiving £299,198 from the National Lottery to support future growth

Local charity Trowbridge Future is celebrating after being awarded £299,198 in National Lottery funding to enable its work supporting members of the local community. The charity, based in Trowbridge, will use the funding to develop and consolidate sustainable growth over the next three years.

Trowbridge Future is an independent charity and has been running since 1995, staffed by 8 staff and a team of dedicated volunteers. Trowbridge Future aims to respond to the needs and concerns of local residents and young people. This will be achieved by providing local people with opportunities to come together, build stronger relationships, help local people feel better about where they live and support them to improve their community and the things that matter to them.

Their origins go back to the 1990s when a group of local residents and business people set up a group called Trowbridge Twenty Twenty, to identify key local issues, devise projects and work to shape the long-term future of the town.

Trowbridge Future run a series of youth cafes across the disadvantaged communities of Trowbridge: Longfield, Seymour and Studley Green and hosts two Community Hubs, one in The Shires Shopping Centre and one on the Seymour Estate providing advice and support to Trowbridge’s most vulnerable residents. Trowbridge Future also supports developing the needs and capacity of local neighbourhood and community associations.

The new funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, which distributes money raised by National Lottery players for good causes and is the largest funder of community activity in the UK, will see an increased number of young people reached by Trowbridge Future activities, and an increased number of Hub visitors accessing Hub organised activities, ensuring that local residents feel listened to and supported.

Key to our continued growth is a team of dependable volunteers and trustees. We have a variety of opportunities so we are keen to here from you, if you are interested please get in touch: info@trowbridgefuture.org.uk

Meg Aubrey, Youth & Community Manager at Trowbridge Future says “We’re delighted that The National Lottery Community Fund has recognised our work in this way. Now, thanks to National Lottery players we will be able to confidently press on with our plans to widen the range of opportunities available to local residents, which creates a sense of inclusion, helping to alleviate social isolation and loneliness.”

Rowan Miller, Head of Regional Funding for the South West at The National Lottery Community Fund, said “It’s inspiring to see the difference that community focused, people-led charities are making across Wiltshire and beyond, including projects like Trowbridge Futures. We’re delighted to support them, thanks to National Lottery players, so they can continue to provide valuable services to vulnerable young people and hope to communities as they navigate these uncertain times.”
