Kindness in the community to be celebrated by new loyalty card

Young people in Trowbridge who complete random acts of kindness can now be rewarded with a voucher to spend in local businesses, through a new kindness loyalty card launched by local charity Trowbridge Future.

Each completed act of kindness, chosen from a list of suggestions put together by Trowbridge Future or ideas from the young people themselves, earns a stamp on the kindness loyalty card. When young people achieve three stamps they are rewarded with a £5 voucher that can be redeemed at one of four local businesses. “Young people have had a really tough time through the pandemic and this scheme is our way of inspiring and celebrating little acts of kindness that can bring a lot to the individual and to the community,” said Meg Aubrey Chief Executive Officer. “We are really grateful to the local businesses that are getting behind the scheme to let young people know their kindness is noticed and appreciated.”

Poppy, the first to complete her kindness card, earned her stamps through a litter pick, painting kindness rocks and making cards for volunteers and people in the local community. “It’s nice to do something kind and Trowbridge Future makes it fun!” she said. Other acts of kindness to choose from include donating items to charity, creating thank you cards for key workers, cooking for family, and volunteering at a local event. Young people are asked to take a photo of their achievement to earn their stamp.

Leykers Café, Miranda’s Coffee Shop, We are Undressed Zero Waste Shop and Zen Luxuries Bath Bomb Shop are all supporting the scheme.

Allan Lawrence, business owner and Director of Zen Luxuries said: “I was very aware of the funding cuts for youth services so it has been great to find out about Trowbridge Future Youth and the work that they do and see them thrive. It’s a pleasure to be able to contribute and help when it is needed.”

The design for the kindness loyalty card was created by the charity’s recently graduated youth apprentice Maisie Marchant.
